I Wasn’t Pumped. I Chose It Anyway.

To be honest… I wasn’t.

What I was feeling was a low-grade mental scramble…the kind that shows up when you say yes to something you genuinely want and immediately start calculating the cost. The time. The logistics. The energy.

Not because it isn’t right.
But because it is.

This wasn’t something that happened to me.
It was a commitment I chose.
One I paid for.
One that aligns with my work, my growth, and the kind of woman I’m becoming.

And yet, my instinct was to talk about it like something to tolerate rather than something to step into.

So I stopped.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how the brain filters experience- how it organizes reality around whatever it’s been told matters most. If the internal story is this is stressful, the body stays braced. If the story is this is aligned, the system starts to orient toward readiness.

Same decision.
Different experience.

Here’s the part that made me smile at myself.

Every night before bed, I’ve been practicing saying,
“I’m excited for my workout tomorrow.”

Not because I wake up thrilled at the thought of burpees.
(Absolutely not.)

But because I’m teaching my brain to look for readiness instead of resistance.

So of course, of course, my best friend casually texts:
“Are you pumped?”

Touché.

That’s when I made a choice.

Not to pretend I felt something I didn’t.
But to decide how I would relate to the commitment I’d already made.

Because here’s the standard I’m practicing right now:

If I choose something- something intentional, aligned, and mine…I don’t get to narrate it like a burden.

I name it honestly.

Opportunity.
Momentum.
Growth.

And yes…Pumped.

So take this as a quiet invitation.

An invitation to notice how you talk about the things you chose on purpose. The programs you enrolled in. The rooms you decided to walk into. The investments you made because you trust your own discernment.

If you catch yourself describing those choices like obligations
things to get through rather than fully enter…pause.

Not to judge yourself.
Not to force enthusiasm.

Just to ask:

What if I called this what it already is?

Not everything you choose will feel easy.
Not everything will feel convenient.

But chosen things deserve to be spoken about with respect.

Here’s the standard I’m holding myself to:

If something is aligned, intentional, and mine, I don’t talk about it like it’s weighing me down. I show up like I meant it.

With steadiness.
With ownership.
With quiet confidence.

Because the point isn’t to grind your way through the life you’re building.

The point is to notice when you’re already standing inside something you once wanted and meet it with presence.

And sometimes,
even with a little excitement.
